What is atole?
According to the National Institute of Indigenous Peoples, atole is a drink of pre-Hispanic origin consumed in Mexico, Guatemala, and other Central American countries. At first, this drink consisted of sugary cooking of cornflour in water in proportions such that in the end, they had a moderate consistency of viscosity and a certain thickness.

Ingredients
- 2 liters of water
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1/2 cup ground oatmeal or oatmeal
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- Sugar to taste
- Bee honey
How do you prepare?
In a pot place the two liters of cold water and add little by little the ground oatmeal until it integrates very well (beware: this procedure must be done without leading to the fire).
Place on low heat and move constantly so that this does not stick.
After 10 minutes place the sugar or honey to taste to sweeten.
Place the vanilla essence and cinnamon.
Keep moving the preparation for 20 minutes or until it thickens.
Turn off the heat and serve.
