  • Flour 500 g
  • Salt 20 g
  • Olive oil 200 ml

How to make homemade pita bread

Difficulty: Easy

  • Total time 45 m
  • Elaboration 30 m
  • Cooking 15 m
  • Rest 1 h 15 m
  • In a saucepan put to heat water. Turn off the heat once it is warm, not hot.
  • Add the yeast to the saucepan. Undo all the lumps that come in the envelope. Let stand there for at least 5 minutes.
  • In a large bowl place the flour. Make a hole in the center, as if it were the crater of a volcano.
  • Put the salt on the banks of the “volcano”.
  • In the hole go emptying the water with the yeast.
  • Knead with your hands, always from the outside in.
  • Once it has become a uniform mass, which practically does not stick on the surface where you are preparing it, add the olive oil.
  • It unites the whole dough again. Knead for at least 5 more minutes.
  • Cover the bowl where you have it with a semi-porous cloth.
  • Let it sit for at least an hour.
  • Knead again and cut into small pieces that will make the pita breads.
  • Turn them into balls.
  • Once you have them ready, let them sit again for 15 minutes.
  • Flour the surface where you will place them.
  • Take each one and give them shape and thickness with the roller. You go measuring what size you want them to be.
  • Put them to bake, without touching, to your oven preheated to 200 degrees. They should be in there for 7 to 9 minutes.
  • Remember that you must remove them when the surface of each of them still looks white. If you wait for coffee to be seen, when you remove them you will break them.
  • To give them the last of cooking and looking, put them to cook on a Comal or Teflon pan for two minutes on each side.

Ready! Now you can eat them as you like!
