If you love the combination of rich chocolate and crunchy hazelnuts, these Gooey Chocolate Hazelnut Muffins will be your new favorite treat! With a soft, moist texture and an irresistible gooey chocolate center, they’re perfect for breakfast, dessert, or anytime you need a sweet fix. The addition of hazelnuts brings a satisfying crunch that complements the melty chocolate, making each bite a delightful experience.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped hazelnuts
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • Extra hazelnut paste or melted chocolate for decoration

Directions

  1. Preheat & Prep: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Mix Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, combine milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine: Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the muffins light and airy.
  5. Add Hazelnuts & Chocolate: Gently fold in the chopped hazelnuts and chocolate chips.
  6. Fill Muffin Tin: Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups, filling each about 3/4 full.
  7. Bake: Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool & Decorate: Allow muffins to cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. For extra indulgence, drizzle with melted chocolate, Nutella, or extra crushed hazelnuts.

Pro Tips for Perfect Muffins

  • Don’t Overmix: Mixing the batter too much can result in dense muffins. Stir gently and just until incorporated.
  • Add More Hazelnuts: For an extra crunchy texture, sprinkle a few more chopped hazelnuts on top before baking.
  • Double Chocolate: For an even richer flavor, drizzle extra melted chocolate over the muffins after they cool.
