Brokeback Mountain stage play premieres in West End with Mike Faist and Lucas Hedges

Tony nominee Mike Faist and Oscar nominee Lucas Hedges will lead the cast of the West End premiere of “Brokeback Mountain” stage play, a new drama based on the short story of the same title by Annie Proulx. The production will run from May 10 to August 12 at the new venue @sohoplace. The play tells the story of two male cowboys navigating a hidden romantic relationship amid their conservative community in 1953 Wyoming. The production is directed by Jonathan Butterell, with songs by Dan Gillespie Sells. Eddi Reader will perform songs by Gillespie Sells in the role of the Balladeer. The play is produced by Nica Burns with Adam Blanshay Productions, Lambert Jackson Productions, and Katy Lipson for Aria Entertainment.

Mike Faist and Lucas Hedges to Star in Brokeback Mountain Stage Play

Mike Faist and Lucas Hedges, Tony and Oscar nominees respectively, will lead the cast of the West End premiere of Brokeback Mountain. The stage adaptation is based on the eponymous short story by Annie Proulx. The play, written by Ashley Robinson, will run from May 10 to August 12 at the new venue @sohoplace.

The production is directed by Jonathan Butterell, who previously collaborated with songwriter Dan Gillespie Sells on the West End hit Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. The play also features songs by Gillespie Sells. Faist will play Jack, while Hedges will take on the role of Ennis. Eddi Reader will perform songs by Gillespie Sells in the role of the Balladeer, accompanied by a band of talented musicians.

The play’s story is set in 1953 Wyoming, and it tells the tale of two male cowboys who must navigate their relationship in secret due to the conservatism of their community. The production’s creative team includes Tom Pye, who is responsible for the set and costumes, David Finn for lighting, and Christopher Shutt for sound.

Brokeback Mountain is produced by Nica Burns with Adam Blanshay Productions, Lambert Jackson Productions, and Katy Lipson for Aria Entertainment. The drama will open this spring and run through the summer at the West End.
