David Lowery and A24 will team up again for the film “Mother Mary,” which stars Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel. The movie follows a fictional musician’s relationship with an iconic fashion designer and will feature original songs by Jack Antonoff and Charli XCX, as well as an original score by Daniel Hart. The project is a co-financing venture with Topic Studios, while the production team includes Lowery, Toby Halbrooks, James M. Johnston, Jeanie Igoe, Jonas Katzenstein, Maximilian Leo, and Jonathan Saubach. Hathaway has several upcoming films, while Coel recently appeared in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” and will star in a remake of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.” Lowery’s “Peter Pan & Wendy” will debut on Disney+ in April.

David Lowery, known for his directorial work on “The Green Knight” and “A Ghost Story,” is set to collaborate with A24 for the third time on his upcoming film, “Mother Mary.” The lead roles will be played by Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel, both well-known names in the entertainment industry. The movie will be filmed in Germany, and the plot will revolve around a fictional musician (Hathaway) and her relationship with an iconic fashion designer (Coel).
Jack Antonoff and Charli XCX will create and produce original songs for the film, along with an original score composed by Daniel Hart. Topic Studios is co-financing, while the production team consists of Lowery, Toby Halbrooks, James M. Johnston, Jeanie Igoe, Jonas Katzenstein, Maximilian Leo, and Jonathan Saubach.
Hathaway is set to star in several other movies this year, including Sundance entry “Eileen,” Neon’s “Mother’s Instinct,” and Amazon’s “The Idea of You.” She also signed up for “It Follows” director David Robert Mitchell’s new feature at Bad Robot last week. Coel, on the other hand, starred in Marvel’s “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” and will star in the series remake of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” with Donald Glover.
Lowery’s latest work, Disney’s live-action “Peter Pan & Wendy,” will premiere on Disney+ on April 28th.
