ChatGPT, the AI chatbot that has recently taken the tech world by storm, is now available on the Apple Watch, making Android smartwatch users jealous. San Francisco-based OpenAI created ChatGPT, which can provide comprehensive responses to almost any question or request in seconds. Recently acquired by Microsoft, ChatGPT can answer everything from essay questions to song lyrics in the style of your favourite artist.
While Siri is limited in its use and requires specific questions to provide proper responses, ChatGPT, also known as Petey – AI Assistant, is believed to be more powerful, with new features continuously being added. Although the app functions similarly to Siri, it is considered to be far more efficient. Petey is listed as Modum B.V. on the App Store.
ChatGPT offers users the ability to converse in 14 different languages, including German, Italian, and Japanese, with a tiny on-screen keyboard also available for those who prefer to type instead of speaking to their device. The app can also be set as a complication on the Apple Watch face for fast access, while responses can be shared with others through email, text, or social media.
According to tech blogger John Gruber, who tested the app, “I’ve been using it for a week or so, and it’s occasionally been genuinely handy, especially if you keep it on an easily-accessed watch face complication. With other devices, you can just search the web for answers to questions. Oftentimes, when you ask a question to Siri, you get redirected to a web search. But if all you have handy at the moment is your watch, a web search is useless. Petey gives good answers to a lot of questions.”
The app is not yet available for Android smartwatches. For iPhone users, ChatGPT is exclusive to the Apple Watch and cannot be accessed through Siri.
