In his free time, Wyatt Nash works with children’s hospitals in Los Angeles. He is presently spear-heading a project in which he provides a camping like experience to the children admitted to the hospitals.
Wyatt, despite coming from a liberal minded doctor family, is quite conservative in his views. He is an ardent Christian and has been very vocal about his faiths as evident from his time during ‘Survivor.’
He is great friends with his ‘The Bridge’ co-star Katy Findlay. It was rumoured that they were dating but Wyatt then came out in open about having a serious relationship with his long time girlfriend, which he refused to name.
Wyatt Nash was born Matthew Wyatt Elrod on October 2, 1988 in Nashville, Tennessee, USA to an upper middle class family of doctors. His father worked as a doctor with a local hospital and Wyatt was expected to follow his family’s footsteps as well. Wyatt was the youngest child in the family with an older brother and a sister.
Wyatt did not think in his younger days that he was going to become an actor and studied biology and chemistry in college as major and minor respectively. He started working as a surgery technologist in a local hospital. He was looking to go to a med school when he suddenly gained an interest in a career in the entertainment field and he asked his parents for permission to try acting as a career for three years. He was receiving compliments for his looks which motivated him to try for modelling and thus, his modelling career kicked off as he got some early assignments without much struggle.
Soon after that, Wyatt moved to LA for better career opportunities and slowly, he started getting roles.
His first tryst with a wide fame happened when he became a part of the 22nd season of the popular survival reality show ‘Survivor: Redemption.’ He joined the show as one of the 16 candidates. Apart from the survival instincts, the show tests an individual’s presence of mind. At first, Wyatt performed amazingly well as he was one among the Ometepe Tribe members along with seven other players. One of his tribes-mate was Boston Rob Mariano, a seasoned ‘survivor.’
Wyatt became close to fellow alliance member Andrea, which seemed to have annoyed Mariano. Further, he shook hands with the rival tribe Zapatera’s members which did not set well with Mariano and hence he started a campaign to vote Wyatt out of the game. On the sixth day Mariano was voted out by his own alliance and following that he was sent to the Redemption Island, where he had to do some challenging tasks if he wanted to return back to his tribe.
For the next few days, Wyatt performed exceedingly well and defeated many opponents back to back. He further ended up joining the Murlunio Tribe, which consisted of the members from both the early tribes. However, his honestly backfired when he went to Mariano about the plans of throwing him out. This led to Wyatt himself getting voted out and he was sent back to the Redemption Island. There, he once again won many duels and in the final duel he lost to Andrea.
He ended up in the seventh place and was the sixth member of the jury who had to zero in on the winner. Despite getting backstabbed twice, Wyatt voted for Mariano as the winner. Following his ouster from the show, Wyatt became a household name in America. He was later offered to enter the 26th season of the show, but he declined.
Wyatt did not find it very difficult to kick-start his acting career. Soon after his ‘Survivor’ stint, he was seen in the family drama ‘Hollywood Heights’ in 2012, where he played a small recurring role as Cameron. In the same year, he appeared in the short film ‘Wages.’
In 2013, he was seen in the television show ‘1600 Pen.’ The show is basically a talk show taking on the contemporary political and social issues in an entertaining way. Wyatt made an appearance on the 7th episode of the first season, titled ‘To the Ranch’ and played the role of Tad.
He further gained popularity with his small but entertaining appearance on the mystery drama soap opera show titled ‘Mistresses.’ His character appeared in the first season of the show and was un-named. He was just referred as the ‘hot naked guy.’
In 2013, he appeared in the teen drama series ‘Pretty Little Liars,’ which was based on a book of the same name. The series was one of the most critically and commercially acclaimed series’ of the decade and Wyatt’s small appearance in a few episodes as ‘Nigel Wright’ got noticed by a wider audience. In the next couple of years, Wyatt further gained more appreciation for his appearances in small roles in the series ‘Dr. Kane’ and ‘Rake.’
Since then, Wyatt has mostly been active with the television films and has appeared in films such as ‘Petals on the Wind,’ where he played one of the leading roles as Christopher Dollanganger Jr. The film was a direct sequel to the film ‘Flowers in the Attic,’ which was a major commercial and critical success. The film ‘Petals on the Wind’ became a success just like its prequel with some critics even mentioning it to be better than the original film in every possible way.
