Will Ospreay was born on 7th May 1993 in Havering, London, England. Not much is known about his childhood or parents. He has not revealed much about his dating life either.
It was the match between AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, and Samoa Joe at the TNA Unbreakable 2005 that inspired him to be a wrestler. Some of his signature moves are Iron Octopus, Air Assassin, Silent Whisperer, and Pip Pip Cheerio.
Will Ospreay made his professional debut at the ‘BritWres-Fest’ on 1st April 2012 with the ring name Dark Britannico. He wrestled for Lucha Britannia for some time, during which he won the ‘Lucha Britannia World Championship’ twice.
Ospreay then started wrestling for Progress Wrestling. He performed quite well, earning a place in the Natural Progression Series I tournament. However, he was defeated in the first round itself. Along with Paul Robinson, he soon formed the tag team ‘The Swords of Essex’ and took part in the Progress Tag Team Championship. However, the team was eventually defeated. Ospreay continued to struggle but soon managed to defeat Progress Champion Jimmy Havoc, thus claiming the title for himself. He lost the championship to Marty Scurll in January 2016.
Ospreay made his debut for Revolution Pro Wrestling in February 2013. He emerged victorious in his first match against Mike Hitchman. Once again he formed an alliance with Paul Robinson as the Swords of Essex and started taking part in Tag Team Matches. The team eventually won the British Tag Team Championship on 15th June 2013 after defeating the team ‘Project Ego’. They then lost it to the team ‘The Inner City Machine Gun’ the next year. Ospreay also won the British Cruiserweight Championship in 2014.
In 2016, he made his debut at the New Japan Pro-Wrestling. He challenged Yujiro Kushida for a match for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship, in which he was defeated. However, he managed to defeat Kushida at the King of Pro-Wrestling, which was held in October. This made Ospreay the first British person to have won the title.
In November 2016, it was announced that he had signed an exclusive contract with Ring of Honor. He won his first match against Bobby Fish, becoming the new ROH World Television Champion. Throughout his career so far, Ospreay has wrestled for several other promotions as well, such as International Pro Wrestling, Future Wrestling, Total Nonstop Wrestling and Professional Wrestling Alliance.
