Waliyha Malik

Waliyha Malik was born on July 23, 1998, in Bradford, England, to Yaser and Trisha Malik. Her father was born in Pakistan and later moved to England. Her mother is part English and part Irish. Besides Zayn, who is five years older than her, she has one older sister Doniya and one younger sister, Safaa. Her name reportedly means “princess”.

She and her siblings were raised in a working-class family, living in the neighbourhood of East Bowling, which is situated in the south of the Bradford city centre. She attended the Tong High School in Bradford, where Zayn had studied prior to her. She later enrolled at a college to study childcare. These days, she and her sister Doniya blog together about fashion and make-up.

She guest-starred in the music video for the track, ‘Story of My Life’, which was released in 2013 as part of One Direction’s album, ‘Midnight Memories’. She appeared as a member of Zayn’s family alongside relatives of other members of the group.

She loves kittens and puppies and has her own cat and dog at home. She enjoys the Chinese pasta that her mother makes. Her favourite song by Zayn is ‘Pillowtalk’ from his 2016 album ‘Mind of Mine’.

Malik had never been on a plane prior to 2015 when she went on a trip to Paris with her mother and sisters. She is highly supportive of her brother’s music career.

In early 2016, Waliyha, her mother, and her sister Doniya set up the beauty salon Waliyha Beauty in Bradford in order to provide the women of the city access to trendy hairstyles, make-up, and lashes. The business venture proved to be a success. Waliyha and Doniya also established a beauty product line called Daliyha Beauty. Known for their interest in cosmetic products and make-up on social media, the sisters had always dreamed of creating their own beauty product line one day. They are currently selling their signature style of eyelashes.
