Vijay Sai Devarakonda was born on May 9, 1989 in Achampet, Telangana, India to renowned actor and a TV serial and ad-film director, Devarakonda Govardhan Rao. Vijay gained his early education from Eton Temple High School in Saroornagar, Hyderabad before moving to Sri Sathya Sai Higher Secondary School in Puttaparthi. Away from home and family, Devarakonda spent most of his formative years in this school. It was a period of great learning, both academically and practically for young Devarakonda. Upon completing his education, he then moved back to Hyderabad where he continued his studies from Little Flower Junior College. Graduating from there, Devarakonda next enrolled at Badruka College of Commerce, from where he received his Bachelor of Commerce degree. It was after completing his studies that Devarakonda tried his luck at acting.

Vijay Sai Devarakonda is one of the most talented and dynamic actors of the Telugu film industry. With acting in his blood, his father Devarakonda Govardhan Rao being an actor, it was natural for Vijay to pursue acting. He started with a brief stint in a theatre group ‘Sutradhar’ that was essentially based out of Hyderabad and soon followed it with a 4-month workshop. The workshop opened doors of opportunity for young Vijay who found his hands full with several plays in the Hyderabad theatre circuit. His longest association during this time was with Ingenium Dramatics. Having explored the world of theatre, Vijay soon ventured into cinema.

Career

To start with, he found minor role in Sekhar Kammula’s ‘Life is Beautiful’. It was while doing the Kammula’s film that Devarakonda was first introduced to Nag Ashwin, assistant director then. Upon seeing his potential, Ashwin cast him for the 2015 movie ‘Yevade Subramanyam’ alongside Nani. The film was a commercial success and established Devarakondo’s career as an actor. He then found a lead role opposite Ritu Varma in the romantic coming-of-age film ‘Pelli Choopulu’ by director Tharun Bhascker Dhaassyam. ‘Pelli Choopulu’ was one of the biggest blockbusters of the year both critically and commercially and catapulted his career to massive heights. The film not just became went on to be commercially successful but also won the 64th National Film Awards in the category Best Feature Film in Telugu. It made him the overnight sensation of the Telugu film industry. Devarakonda career has been on a meteoric rise ever since. He has featured in a couple of films recently, including ‘Dwaraka’, ‘Arjun Reddy’ and ‘Ye Mantram Vesave’, all of which have been commercial hits.
