He became associated with music from an early age that saw him playing the drums from age seven. Moving on he became member of the two school bands. These bands, namely ‘Malicious’ and ‘The Midnight Orange Monkeys’, performed in Exeter at local restaurants. His talent got early recognition when in 2010 he received the Young Drummer of the Year award. An alumnus of the independent popular music college, Academy of Music and Sound located in Exeter, Evans can also play the piano and guitar.
James McVey wanted to form a band. He spotted Bradley Simpson through YouTube in 2011. The two then met Evans through Facebook in 2012 and subsequently the three got introduced to Connor Ball through a mutual friend. This led to the formation of the British pop rock band ‘The Vamps’ with Simpson in lead vocals and guitar; McVey in lead guitar and vocals; Ball in bass guitar and vocals; and Evans in drums and vocals. Evans and other members of the band garnered initial attention in late 2012 when the band started gaining fame uploading cover songs on YouTube. In November 2012, the band was signed to Mercury Records.
On September 29, 2013, the debut single of ‘The Vamps’ titled ‘Can We Dance’ released in the UK as lead single of the band’s debut studio album ‘Meet the Vamps’ (2014). The single debuted and peaked at #2 on the UK Singles Chart and garnered Platinum certification from Australia (ARIA) and Gold certification from United Kingdom (BPI), thus gaining widespread recognition for Evans and other members of the band. With time Evans furthered his fame with the band which went on to produce several other hit singles and albums. These include three successive singles namely ‘Wild Heart’, ‘Last Night’ and ‘Somebody to You’ all of which released in 2014 and reached at #3, #2 and #4 respectively on the UK Singles Chart. Success story of Evans continued as a member of the band, the debut studio album of which titled ‘Meet the Vamp’ released in the UK on April 14, 2014 and emerged as the 23rd bestselling album of UK that year receiving a Platinum certification from BPI. The debut EP of the band ‘Somebody to You’ (2014) went on to debut at #10 on the US Billboard 200. Evans also acts as producer of the band when it comes to spawning their covers. He also caught attention and garnered millions of fans and admirers performing in several national and international tours of the band including Meet the Vamps tour (2014), The Vamps Asia-Pacific 2015 Tour, The Vamps North American Tour (2015) and USA 2018 Tour among others.
Apart from his thriving association with ‘The Vamps’, Evans has also gained decent popularity in social media. He has amassed over 970 K followers on his Instagram account ‘thevampstris’ and more than 1.70 million followers on his Twitter account ‘TheVampsTristan’ that he created in February 2012. He featured in the talk show ‘The Morning’ in 2013. Evans has also tried his hands in acting featuring in the comedy film ‘Janoskians: Untold and Untrue’ (2015) and in an uncredited role in the comedy music talk-show ‘Conan’ in 2017. He has also featured in a modelling photo shoot for the Saint Kidd clothing brand.
He was born Tristan Oliver Vance Evans on August 15, 1994 in the ancient city of Exeter in England. His mother’s name is Carolyn Evans. He was brought up with his brother James and sister Milly. He loved to ride horses as a young boy and has a horse apart from a rabbit as pets.
According to sources, Evans has admitted preferring relationship with women older to him. Presently he is romantically associated with English model and makeup artist Anastasia Smith with whom he got engaged in April 2018.
