Trisha started singing during her elementary school days. She performed in musicals, choir groups as well as in talent shows. As a teenager she became interested in accountancy but after graduating she enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served a four-year tenure at Luke AFB.

She later enrolled at Young Harris College to boost her singing career. She received her associate degree and later became a member of the ‘Phi Theta Kappa’ honor society. After that, she enrolled at the University of Georgia but soon became unhappy with the university’s large campus and dropped out.

She received an internship with ‘MTM Records’ and later became a full-time employee there. She recorded many demo tapes and did background vocals for several new artists including Garth Brooks in 1989. Eventually she became good friends with him. In 1991, Trisha Yearwood released her debut self-titled album which sold over a million copies. The track named ‘She's in Love with the Boy’ peaked at #1 on the ‘Billboard Country Chart’ in 1991.
