She then modelled for many high-end magazines like ‘Cosmopolitan,’ ‘Seventeen,’ ‘Vogue,’ ‘Ebony,’ ‘Redbook’ and ‘ELLE.’ In 1987, Smith turned to acting and appeared in the crime drama ‘Miami Vice’. She then appeared in the comedy flick ‘Me and Him’.


The American model cum actress was then cast in the sitcom ‘227’ in 1989. Two years later, she did the movie ‘Talkin' Dirty After Dark. Then she had a role in the comedy-drama flick ‘I Like It Like That’. She got featured in the films ‘Joe's Apartment’ and ‘The Preacher's Wife’ in 1996. Three years later, Smith acted in the movie ‘Goosed’. The actress also owns a restaurant named ‘Toukie's’ in West Village neighborhood of New York City.
