Tobey Maguire got married to Jennifer Meyer, who is a jewellery designer by profession, in 2007, after being a steady relationship for four years. They have a daughter named Ruby Sweetheart Maguire, who was born a year prior to their marriage.

Tobias Vincent Maguire was born on 27 June 1975 in Santa Monica in California, United States to Vincent Maguire and Wendy Brown. Maguire’s father used to be employed as a construction worker and sometimes as cook while his mother was initially employed as a secretary before becoming a producer-screenwriter.

When Tobey Maguire was born, his parents weren’t married; they did so subsequently but got divorced in 1977 and that was the reason why Maguire had to grow up in different cities, shuttling between both parents as well as other relatives.

Tobey Maguire initially wanted to become a cook but after his mother had become a screenwriter, she gave him money to attend an acting class and from then on Maguire wanted to be an actor. He did not complete high school but he was awarded the ‘General Educational Development’ certificate in 2000.

Tobey Maguire initially started off as a TV actor in bit part roles in series like ‘Roseanne’ and ‘Blossom’; however, his first appearance in a film was in a non speaking minor role in the film ‘The Wizard’ in 1989.

In 1992, he was supposed to play the male lead in the show ‘Great Scott’ but the show was cancelled.

In 1993, Tobey Maguire was cast in the film ‘This Boy’s Life’ alongside Robert De Niro and a young Leonardo di Caprio. Maguire was cast in the role of a teenager who was a friend of the character played by di Caprio.

In 1995, Tobey Maguire was cast in a leading role in the film ‘Empire Records’ but due to his problems with alcoholism he midway pulled out of the film. He joined Alcoholics Anonymous and returned to acting with the short films ‘Duke of Groove’. He followed it up with roles in ‘Deconstructing Harry’ directed by Woody Allen and ‘The Ice Storm’ directed by Ang Lee.

In 1998, Maguire appeared in the film ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’ and followed it up with a lead role in the critically acclaimed ‘The Cider House Rules’ and ‘Wonder Boys’. After appearing in these films Maguire became known as a versatile actor who could pull off a wide variety of roles.

Tobey Maguire has appeared in plenty of movies and has received critical acclaim, however his most important work are the three Spider Man movies.
