Teo Halm's father played a huge role in advancing his acting career. The young actor was interested in theatre since he was a child and took part in many musicals at the age of nine. His father took a picture of him and decided to upload it on the talent website newfaces.com. His profile soon caught the attention of a producer of the PBS series Nova, who thought his long hair and bone structure would fit the portrayal of a Neanderthal boy. In 2009, he appeared on television for the first time on the Nova documentary series in the episode "Becoming Human: Last Human Standing." In 2010, he was also selected as the spokesperson for UCLA in a web commercial. Interestingly, Teo's soon-to-be manager recognized his acting talents during a soccer match when he feigned an injury. The 2012 short film ‘Waltham Vanguard’ has been Teo's first appearance in a lead role. Since then he has been cast in many short films as well as feature films, and has won multiple awards.
Teo Halm has showed exceptional acting talent within a few years of his acting career. His first major role in the coming of age short film Waltham Vanguard earned him the CINE Golden Eagle award. He received the "Best Actor" award at the 9th Annual PICK Awards for his performance in the alien adventure film Earth to Echo. Teo's talent as an actor got noticed by renowned American actor and filmmaker James Franco, who took him under his wing and offered him major roles in many of his productions. In 2013, he appeared in the James Franco-directed biographical movie Bukowski, in which he plays the role of Frank Sullivan, the childhood best friend of the protagonist Charles Bukowski. In 2015, he acted alongside James Franco in the movie Memoria, which is based on a short story by the star actor, and played the supporting lead role of Alex, a rebellious skater kid.
Starting his career by acting in musical theatre, Teo Halm is still interested in making music and performs at local clubs as a DJ. Teo is a diehard fan of soccer and is also a talented soccer player who plays for his school team. Other than acting and playing soccer, his hobbies include surfing on California beaches and skateboarding on the streets.
When Disney decided to produce the TV series Girl Meets World, a follow-up series to ABC's Boy Meets World, Teo was cast for the role of Elliot Matthews, older brother of Riley, the protagonist of the show. He also appeared in the pilot of the show in early 2013. However, in October of the same year, Teo revealed in a tweet that the producers have decided against having an older brother on the show, and that he will no longer appear on the show. Girl Meets World star Danielle Fishel, who was supposed to play his mother on the show, sympathized with the young actor by responding to his tweet, saying that he is "an incredible talent" and that he can still call her "mom."
