Taylor Dooley is an American actress, best known for her role in the film ‘The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl’
Taylor Dooley born at
Her parents take care of their family business, and she has so far had a pretty comfortable life, which has allowed her to pursue the seemingly difficult dream of becoming an actress.
Due to her friendly nature, she has managed to become friends with many stars in the industry. Cayden Boyd, Ryan Newman and Taylor Lautner are some of her very good friends. She is also friends with fellow actress AnnaSophia Robb, whom she met during a concert.
Taylor was in a long-term relationship with Justin Cassotta. The couple started dating in 2010 and they got engaged in 2014 when Taylor was just 21 years old. Her decision to get engaged at such a young age was deemed thoughtless by many industry experts as they thought it may hamper her career growth.
Taylor Dooley was born on February 26, 1993 in Michigan. She was born into a family that had no connection with the entertainment world. She was raised by her parents, John and Debbie, and grew up along with her younger brother, Drew.
Although her family didn’t have any connections with the field of entertainment, Taylor grew up with a dream of making it big in show business. Even before she had turned five, her parents helped her to participate in children’s beauty pageants and she ended up winning a few of them.
She got familiar with the glitz and glamour associated with show business at a very young age and that fueled her ambition of becoming an actress. Her dominance in the beauty pageants also landed her a modelling contract in her hometown. When her contract came to an end her family moved to Arizona.
When she turned nine, her parents decided to get her trained professionally in acting and dancing, and she was enrolled at Phoenix Theatre. She then became a part of the theatre’s acting troupe and learned the basics of acting, dancing and singing. She also embarked on a tour with the troupe which covered the entire country.
She started featuring in television commercials which paid her well and soon shot to fame. She also carried on with her modelling assignments.
Her biggest breakthrough came in the mid-2000s when her family finally decided to move to Los Angeles. The decision was made based on her father’s business proposals and this turned out to be a blessing for Taylor. After moving to Los Angeles, she carried on with her education and also kept auditioning for films and TV series. Meanwhile, she also landed more roles in commercials.
During her difficult days, she became friends with a few other struggling actors, one of them being AnnaSophia Robb. Unfortunately, she also ended up losing a couple of roles to her. She then somehow managed to grab a few meaty roles including the one in ‘House’.
Taylor was featured in the ‘Discovery Girls’ magazine and a few more articles mentioned about her acting skills. In 2004, she came to know about the audition for an upcoming Robert Rodriguez film. She auditioned for the role and managed to grab the attention of the makers. At the age of 11, she landed a major role in the film, ‘The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl’. She was then nominated at an award ceremony under the category, Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a Feature Film by a Leading Young Actress in a movie.
In the film, which was released in 2005, Taylor portrayed the leading role of Lavagirl. She had to dye her hair pink for the role. The film helped her to land a few more roles in films, such as ‘Whitepaddy’. This was an indie romance drama and was finished well before ‘The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl’, but was not released until 2006.
