Tamla Kari was born on July 27, 1988 in Coventry, West Midlands. She received her education from Wyken Croft and Earlsdon Primary Schools before finally enrolling at Westwood School and Community College. At the age of four, Kari started taking lessons in tap dance, modern dance, and gymnastics. Soon she progressed to learning ballet, musical theatre. and street dance. Before joining Drama Centre London, Kari attended a local drama group in Coventry called St Finbarr's Youth Arts which specialised in performing Irish plays.
Though ‘The InBetweeners’ brought her fame and recognition, it was her act in ‘The Musketeers’ in 2014 that made her a household name. In it, she played the character of Constance Bonacieux. The show ran for two years until 2016. Kari’s most recent performance has been in the TV series ‘Young Hyacinth’ as Violet. Television and films apart, Kari has also made stage appearances in various shows including ‘Saturday Night and Sunday Morning’, ‘Solo Showing’, ‘An Experiment with an Air Pump’, ‘Tartuffe’, ‘Twelfth Night’, ‘Philistines’, ‘Versailles’, ‘This is Living’ and ‘While the Sun Shines’.

Tamla Kari’s first exposure to acting was when she joined a local drama group in Coventry called St Finbarr's Youth Arts. She soon enrolled herself at the Drama Centre London. Even before passing out of the Drama Centre, Kari won for herself the role of Lucy in ‘The Inbetweeners Movie’. The film proved to be a major breakthrough in her career, giving her the much-needed kickstart. ‘The Inbetweeners Movie’ launched Kari’s career on the big screen and opened new avenues for her to explore. Even after her film career had commenced, Kari did not give up on theatre and continued to play different roles.
In 2012, Tamla Kari was seen portraying the role of Pearl in the fourth series of the BBC Three supernatural drama series ‘Being Human’ and as Izzy Calvin in the second series of ‘Silk’. The same year, she was also seen in the BBC Three sitcom ‘Cuckoo’. In 2013, Kari was seen capping the character of Danielle in ITV comedy ‘The Job Lot’. In 2014, Kari reprised her role of Lucy in the sequel ‘The Inbetweeners 2’.
