Tamina was born on February 18, 1989. She is from Toronto, Canada. Tamina has an elder sister. Tamina has lived near Dundas Street East and Broadview Avenue in Ontario for 12 years.
Tamina attended the 'Withrow Avenue Public School' and later joined the 'Malvern Collegiate Institute.'
Tamina wishes to dance or choreograph for an R&B artist someday. She believes that the opportunity will let her perform in a new and different capacity. Tamina loves to dance to SWV’s ‘I’m So Into You.’ This was the first song she ever danced to, as a child. Her first choreography was for the song 'I Need Someone,' which was sung by her mother.
Tamina started training in dance when she was just 2 years old. At the age of 8, she was granted a scholarship to Toronto’s 'Interplay School of Dance.' The following year, she bagged a job with the 'Toronto Jr. Raptors Dance Pak.’ Thereafter, she began dancing professionally. Over time, Tamina learned various dance forms, such as hip-hop, jazz, Irish, ballet, and modern dance.
A few years later, Tamina went on her first tour with Canadian artist Keshia Chanté. After working with several American productions and artists in Canada, Tamina moved to Los Angeles to pursue a full-time career. With the help of her agency, 'Bloc Talent,' Tamina became part of a few prestigious dance and choreography projects. Her dance career received a boost when she had the opportunity to work with famous artists such as Aloee Blacc, Ke$ha, Big Sean, Danny Fernandes, and Justin Bieber.
In 2008, Tamina was featured as one the dancers in 'Disney Channel's' original movie 'Camp Rock.' Two years later, she was one of camp star dancers in the sequel, 'Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.' She was part of the top 16 dancers on the 2008 dance reality show 'So You Think You Can Dance Canada.' Tamina was one of the “Delta dancers” in the 2009 American comedy–drama TV film 'Sorority Wars.' She was part of the dance crew in the 2010 'MTV’ original TV movie 'Turn the Beat Around.' She also appeared in the 2012 teen comedy–drama TV film ‘Frenemies.'
Tamina’s acting career received a boost when she bagged the role of ‘Tiffany’ in the 2013 Canadian TV series 'The Next Step.' She played the character for three seasons. Tamina sang the track ‘Showstoppa,’ which debuted in the second season of 'The Next Step.' In 2014, Tamina played the role of ‘Lucy’ in an episode of the Canadian teen drama 'Degrassi: The Next Generation.' The same year, she appeared as one of the dancers in the TV movie 'A Daughter's Nightmare.' She was part of the dance crew of the 2016 American superhero film 'Suicide Squad.' The same year, she appeared in an episode of the Canadian TV comedy–drama series 'Four in the Morning.'
In 2017, Tamina bagged her second prominent acting project. She was offered the role of ‘Mina’ in the second season of the Canadian children's TV series 'Stanley Dynamic.' Incidentally, while growing up, Tamina’s nickname was “Mina.” The same year, Tamina danced alongside Lady Gaga in the halftime show of the annual championship game of the 'National Football League,' 'Super Bowl.'
