Tamar Braxton got married to her first husband Darrell Delite Allamby, a music producer, in 2001. It was an unsuccessful marriage, and the couple divorced in 2003.
In 2003, she started dating Vincent Herbert, a record executive, and married him on November 27, 2008. Their first baby boy Logan was born on June 6, 2013.
She suffers from vitiligo, and was also diagnosed with pulmonary embolisms in her lungs.
Tamar Estine Braxton was born on March 17, 1977, in Severn, Maryland, USA, to Michael and Evelyn Braxton. Her father was a pastor in the church. She is the youngest of the six Braxton children—five sisters, and a brother, Michael Conrad Braxton Jr.
She was passionate about music from an early age and started singing when she was a child. She and her siblings used to sing in the church choir.
She did not finish her high school.
The five Braxton sisters, including Tamar, formed ‘The Braxtons’, an R&B singing group in 1989, and released their first single, ‘Good Life’ in 1990. The single didn’t perform well and as a result, Arista Records cancelled the deal signed with them.
When one of the sisters, Toni, started pursuing a solo career and left the group, the other sisters including Tamar featured in the music video for Toni's single, ‘Seven Whole Days’.
In 1996, the sisters returned with a new album ‘So Many Ways’, which ranked No. 26 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
In 1998, Tamar left the group to pursue a solo career, and signed a deal with DreamWorks Records. She released her solo album, ‘Ridiculous’, featuring many different musical styles.
However, it failed to impact urban radio outlets. Instead of cancelling the album, Dreamworks Records dropped three old tracks, and added new ones, and renamed it ‘Tamar’ (2000). When the new songs too failed to gain impact, her label dropped her from the roster.
Tamar Braxton’s two back-to-back hits from her album ‘Love and War’—the title track and ‘The One’—are her best creations so far. The ‘Love and War’ album offers a diverse mix of impactful and emotional songs.
WEtv’s reality series ‘Braxton Family Values’, and ‘Tamar and Vince’ are among her successful TV works. Tamar, along with other members of her family, starred in these popular shows. She also gained popularity with the engaging talk show Fox-TV’s ‘The Real.’ It was rated No.1 as the highest rated test-run in talk show history.
