Talia Balsam was born on March 5, 1959. in New York City, New York, USA, to Martin Balsam and Joyce Van Patten. She has two half-siblings, Adam and Zoe. She studied at Treehaven School before pursuing her career in acting. Balsam got married to George Clooney in 1989. However, the marriage did not last long. After divorcing Clooney in 1993, she married John Slattery with whom she has a son, Harry.
Talia Balsam started acting in 1977. She first appeared on television, in the series ‘Happy Days’. After that, she did the TV films ‘The Initiation of Sarah’, ‘Stickin' Together’, ‘Fast Lane Blues’ and ‘The Millionaire’. Then she was cast as Cathy Consuelos in the series ‘Taxi’. In 1979, she made her big screen debut with the movie ‘Sunnyside’. From then till 1983, Balsam did a number of TV projects, such as ‘Survival of Dana’, ‘The Runaways’, ‘OHMS’, ‘Archie Bunker's Place’, ‘Kent State’, ‘Hill Street Blues’, ‘Cagney & Lacey’ and ‘Family Ties’.
