In October 2018, she announced her decision to finish high school by taking online classes and later move to New York City.
Having known each other for over six years, McGee and her current boyfriend Dallin Forsyth began dating sometime in the mid-2010s. They have appeared prominently on each other’s social media accounts. Both McGee and Forsyth are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 2018, they revealed on their social media profiles that Forsyth would be leaving for two years on his religious mission. He left on 26 September. McGee subsequently posted a heartfelt message on her Instagram handle, stating that she would miss him and could not wait to see him in 24 months.
Sydney McGee began her journey to social media stardom on November 9, 2013, when she created her self-titled YouTube channel. The first video, ‘slip'n slides’, was posted in July 2018, and has accumulated over 12 thousand views to date. Her channel has grown since then. She posts regularly and her content seems to engage and entertain her audience. These days, she receives tens of thousands of views on each of her videos. It has been almost universally panned, receiving over 285 thousand downvotes as compared to about 80 thousand upvotes. Many compared her version of the song to Rebecca Black’s ‘Friday’. Several celebrity YouTubers, such as PewDiePie and SSSniperWolf, made reaction videos. There is even a Change.org petition asking McGee to never make music again.
