Swipey was a free-spirited person, who had a lot of friends. He used to party regularly and was also a self-proclaimed marijuana user. On his Instagram account, he had posted many pictures and videos, smoking up along with his friends.
According to his manager Kevin Baldwin, Swipey had a volatile relationship with an unknown girl. In fact, he had a heated argument with the girl in question minutes before his death. However, he was not in a relationship with the girl at the time of his death.
On August 21, 2016, Swipey was shot dead at a house party in Suitland, Maryland. According to the police investigation, he was shot twice on his head from a close range. When his manager confirmed the news of his death on social media, there was an outpouring of grief on social media.
Swipey was born Douglas Brooks on November 24, 1997. He was raised by his mother, Freda, and had a difficult childhood as his parents separated when he was still very young.

Kevin Baldwin, the chief executive of ‘Men of Principles’ became his manager and Swipey started off his musical career on a positive note. He gained prominence as a D.C rapper when his singles ‘Dirty’ and ‘Best Friend’ went viral on the internet.
Swipey then became an internet sensation as his songs started gathering thousands of views on major social media platforms like YouTube. Swipey’s fame led him to perform alongside famous musicians like Wale and Fat Joe.
He then went on tours with rappers like Lil Durk and Shy Glizzy. He also featured producer Jazze Pha in one of his songs, ‘Money MoneyMoney.’ On July 16, 2016, he released his album ‘Sorry Not Sorry’ under the label ‘Men of Principles.’
