Personal Life

She learnt about filmmaking in middle school as well. Basketball is her favorite sports. Her favorite musicians include Elliott Smith, Rex Orange County, Regina Spektor and St. Vincent. She looks up to 'doddleoddle' as a YouTuber. She is a dog person and has four pet dogs: Biscuit, Ginger, Milli and Max. As she doesn't own a cat, she once dressed up Ginger as a cat for a cat hack episode on her show.

Personal Life

Coming from an artistically inclined family, Sunny Keller developed her interest in art at a very early age following her father, a singer, songwriter and guitarist, and her mother, a talented painter and collage artist. While she was learning ballet dancing as a child, her father used to play the ukulele and sing to her, which picked her interest in the instrument. She started playing the ukulele when she was seven years old, and later learned guitar, violin and the piano. She got her life-hack talents in painting, drawing, gluing and tearing from her mother.

Rise to Stardom

She joined YouTube in November 2012 and began posting videos, mostly self-made short films, in early 2014. Also in that year, the directors of the show 'Life Hacks for Kids', Jeannie Roshar and Gary Anthony Williams, conceptualized and pitched the show to DreamWorksTV with her as the host. At the age of 11, she separately sent a 'very poorly edited' video with the help of iMovie. The producers liked the video and asked for more, and it quickly grew into a full-fledged web show with a small studio. She immediately became very popular among young children. People started asking her about life hacks and sent her their own hacks. She hosted the show till February 2017, when she left to focus on her studies to become a fimmaker. She handed over the responsibility of the show to Gillian Alaire Espina, who was co-hosting the show for some time before she left.

Rise to Stardom

Sunny Keller wants to become a successful musician and filmmaker once she grows up, and also has acting on her radar. She not only loves to direct talented actors, but is also working on scoring her own films. She has in the past done makeup for actors on her short films, and dreams of establishing herself as a makeup artist as well. She has developed as a director a lot in the past few years and likes to write about experiences similar to the ones she herself is having as a high school student.

What Makes Sunny Special

As a songwriter, she contributed to the theme song of her show 'Life Hacks for Kids'. The original theme song created by the directors only had her singing one line repeatedly, which she didn't like and spent 10 minutes to write down few more lines, which ended up in the final version. While she is now studying to develop her skills behind the camera, she was 'terrified' while shooting the first few episodes of her show. She shot the first six episodes in her own bedroom, which helped her feel more comfortable with the whole process. Interestingly, most of her goofy moments on the show were spontaneous, and not scripted.
