McCartney married British publisher Alasdhair Willis in 2003. The couple has four children together: Miller Alasdhair James Willis, Beckett Robert Lee Willis, Bailey Linda Olwyn Willis and Reiley Dilys Stella Willis.
Stella McCartney was born on September 13, 1971 in Lambeth, London, to Sir Paul McCartney and Linda McCartney. Her father is the former member of the famous band called ‘Beatles’ and her mother was an American photographer.
McCartney belonged to a very wealthy background and received an affluent upbringing. Most of her childhood was spent travelling around the world with her parents, siblings and half-siblings.
Although she belonged to a rich family, she was still sent to the local state schools in East Sussex. Later, she attended Central St. Martins College of Art & Design.
In 1995, McCartney ventured into the world of fashion with her first collection of feminine, curt and in-vogue collection. She asked supermodels like Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss to model her collection at her graduation.
Her show became very famous with the media and was covered by every major English newspaper. All of her collection was sold to ‘Tokio’—a London boutique. Her designs were licensed to brands like, ‘Browns’, ‘Neiman Marcus’, ‘Joseph’, etc.
Two years after her graduation from London’s Central St. Martins College of Art & Design, McCartney was invited to become the head designer at the fashion house ‘Chloe’ in Paris, France.
Karl Lagerfeld, the famous German designer, was at first very skeptical of McCartney’s talent in fashion and criticized ‘Chloe’s’ decision to pick her as its creative director but with time, she gained more and more commercial and critical success at the fashion house.
In 2001, time was ripe for McCartney to launch her own fashion house and she founded one and displayed her very first collection in Paris. She is now the owner of 17 stores of her brand located all over the world.
McCartney’s most prominent work is considered to be her collaborations and tie-ups that she ventured into to make her brand more accessible to people, like, her collaboration with ‘H&M’, ‘Adidas’ and working as Team GB’s Creative Director for the 2012 Olympics.
