Song Kang-ho was born on January 17, 1967 in Gimhae, South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. He studied at Gimhae High School and then completed his higher education from Busan Kyungsang College. Song Kang-ho first appeared in the 1991 play ‘Dongseung’. He then made his big screen debut in 1996 through the flick ‘The Day a Pig Fell into the Well’. The following year, he did the movies ‘Green Fish’ and ‘No. 3’. His show-stealing performance in ‘No. 3’ made him earn his first ever acting award at Blue Dragon Film Awards function. The South Korean actor then played the role of Lee Jang-gil in the film ‘Shiri’. In 2000, he got the opportunity to play his first lead role in the movie ‘The Foul King’. The same year, Song Kang-ho acted in the flick ‘Joint Security Area’. His performance in this film won him multiple ‘Best Actor’ awards at 38th Grand Bell Awards, 3rd Director's Cut Awards, Deauville Asian Film Festival and 1st Busan Film Critics Awards.
The South Korean star then got featured in the film ‘Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance’ in 2002. A year later, he was cast as Detective Park Doo-man in the film ‘Memories of Murder’. The movie again earned him several awards. After this, Song Kang-ho appeared in the films ‘The President's Barber’, ‘Antarctic Journal’ and ‘The Host’. In the year 2007, he played Kang In-goo and Jong-chan in the movies ‘The Show Must Go On’ and ‘Secret Sunshine’ respectively. The following year, he did the movie ‘The Good, the Bad, the Weird’ and won several nominations at multiple award functions.
Song Kang-ho proceeded to act in the flick ‘Thirst’ followed by the movies ‘Secret Reunion’ and ‘A Little Pond’ in 2010. During 2011 and 2012, he performed in the movies ‘Hindsight’ and ‘Howling’. After that, he was offered the films ‘The Face Reader’ and ‘The Attorney’ which became big hits. He then was cast as Lee Jung-chool in ‘The Age of Shadows’ in 2016.
