Song Il-gook was born on October 1, 1971 in Seoul, South Korea. His mother, Kim Eul-dong is a politician as well as a former actress. He attended Cheongju University and later studied at Chung-Ang University to earn his master's degree. The actor got married to a High Court Judge Jung Seung-yeon on March 15, 2008. After a few years, he became father of triplets Song Dae-han, Song Min-guk, and Song Man-se.
Song Il-gook made his acting debut in 1999 by appearing in the series ‘Did We Really Love?’ After that, he did the series ‘Goodbye My Love’ and ‘All About Eve’. In 2002, he was cast in multiple TV programs including ‘Hard Love’, ‘Jang Hui-bin’ and ‘Album of Life’. A year later, the actor played the role of Han Sung-soo in the drama ‘Bodyguard’. Soon after this, he portrayed the role of Yeom Moon in the series ‘Emperor of the Sea’.
Song Il-gook made his debut on the big screen by appearing in the 2005 movie ‘The Art of Seduction’. He also acted in the flick ‘Red Eye’ later that year. In 2006, he was cast as Jumong in the drama series ‘Jumong’. From 2007 to 2010, he did the series ‘Lobbyist’, ‘The Kingdom of The Winds’ and ‘A Man Called God’. Song Il-gook then got featured in the dramas ‘Crime Squad’ and ‘Fermentation Family’ in 2011.
Three years later, he joined the team of ‘The Return of Superman’ as a series regular. He also did the flick ‘Entangled’ during that time. In October 2015, the South Korean star signed a contract with the management company C-JeS Entertainment. He also played Han Ji-soon in the movie ‘Tattoo’ that year. After this, he did the drama ‘Jang Yeong-sil’. In 2017, Song Il-gook appeared in an episode of the variety show ‘Let's Eat Dinner Together’.
