Shannon Bream

Shannon Bream was born as Shannon Noelle DePuy on December 23, 1970, in Sanford, Florida. She is the only daughter of Marie Norris, a teacher, and Ed DePuy, a Leon County Commissioner. She went to North Florida Christian High School in Tallahassee, and graduated in 1988. She attended Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, where she won the title of Miss Virginia in 1990. She also participated in Miss America 1991 pageant, and was one of the 10 finalists.

She graduated from Liberty University with a degree in Business in 1993. Then she attended law school at Florida State University, and earned a Juris Doctorate with honors. While at law school, she also won the Miss Florida USA pageant in 1995, and finished in the fourth place in the Miss USA 1995 pageant.

She is married to Sheldon Bream, whom she met while attending Liberty University, where he was also an alumnus. Sheldon Bream is the director of bureau relations at the Washington Speakers Bureau, and brother of former MLB player Sid Bream. Her husband has survived a brain tumor. The couple spent a year in “intensive prayer” as faith plays an important role in their lives.

After graduating from Florida State University College of Law in 1996, Shannon Bream moved to Tampa, Florida to practice corporate law. While attending law school, she had interned for Florida Congressman Bill McCollum, who was then in the US House of Representatives. McCollum later became the Florida Attorney General.

However, in 2000, she became interested in television news and was determined to make a career change from the legal profession to journalism. Despite her experience in law, she took up an entry-level job at WFTS-TV, an affiliate of ABC Tampa. She learned how to be a journalist on the job, and fell in love with the newsroom. She capitalized every little window of opportunity to learn something new in the newsroom. Bream is also grateful to her coworkers as they supported her in her quest to learn how to find sources, how to report, and put together a story.

In 2004, she left WFTS-TV and joined WBTV, the CBS affiliate in Charlotte, North Carolina, as an anchor of late night and evening broadcasts. Next, she moved to Washington, DC to work at WRC-TV, an affiliate of NBC, as a weekend anchor, and covered general assignments.

While she was working at WRC-TV, she met Brit Hume, the then managing editor of the Fox News Channel’s Washington Bureau. He encouraged her to submit audition tapes to Fox News. She was selected, and in November 2007, joined the Washington, D.C. bureau of the Fox News Channel, covering the Supreme Court. She is also a substitute anchor for ‘Special Report with Bret Baier’ on Fox News Sunday. She co-anchors America's Newsroom with Bill Hemmer, and hosts a podcast ‘Livin the Bream’, where she shares inspirational stories, personal anecdotes, and an insider's perspective on actions and rulings from the High Court.

She, along with Bill Hemmer, was appreciated for her live coverage of ex-Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) director James Comey's testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee about reports that President Donald Trump pressurized him to stop an investigation into former national security advisor General Michael Flynn.
