Sebastian Gutierrez was born on 10 September 1974 in Caracas, Venezuela. He has been dating actress Carla Gugino since 2005. He once stated that they were not planning for marriage as they believe it isn't important for them. He also stated that the two like the idea of “being boyfriend and girlfriend” as there’s something fun and sexy about that. Information regarding Gutierrez’s parents and other family members is not known.
Sebastian Gutierrez made his debut as a director and writer with the 1998 crime thriller ‘Judas Kiss’. He then wrote and directed the TV film ‘She Creature’. Then in 2003, he served as the screenwriter for the American psychological horror thriller ‘Gothika’. A year later, he wrote the screenplay for the comedy ‘The Big Bounce’. After this, Gutierrez contributed to the action thriller ‘Snakes on a Plane’ (2006) as its writer. The film garnered considerable attention before its release and became an internet phenomenon. However, it failed to achieve much success upon its actual release.
He wrote and directed ‘Rise: Blood Hunter’ in 2007. The film was a supernatural thriller about vampires. In the year 2009, he wrote, directed, and produced the independent female-driven ensemble comedy ‘Women in Trouble’. This was followed by another one titled ‘Elektra Luxx’. Soon after, the Venezuelan artiste wrote, directed and produced a crime comedy titled ‘Girl Walks into a Bar’ starring Rosario Dawson, Carla Gugino, Robert Forster, Josh Hartnett, Danny DeVito and Alexis Bledel, among others. He also wrote the song "Only Bad Can Come" for the film along with composer Grant Lee Phillips.
In 2012, Gutierrez came up with his crime flick ‘Hotel Noir’. The following year, he served as the producer for the Cuban-Canadian comedy thriller ‘3 Days in Havana’ which was directed and written by Tony Pantages and Gil Bellows. In 2018, Gutierrez directed the sci-fi thriller ‘Elizabeth Harvest’. The movie premiered at South by Southwest in March 2018 and stars Australian actress Abbey Lee as the titular Elizabeth.
Sebastian Gutierrez has also appeared in a handful of movies including ‘Wedding Bell Blues’ and ‘The Upstairs Neighbor.’
