Sara Gilbert

During her teenage, Sara Gilbert dated her co-star Johnny Galecki. It was around this time that she realized her true sexuality about being homosexual. She and Johnny are still good friends.

She later dated television producer Allison Adler and together they have two children, a son, Levi Hank, born to Adler in 2004 and a daughter, Sawyer Jane, born to Gilbert in 2007.

After her breakup with Adler she dated Linda Perry and got engaged in April 2013. She married the music producer on March 30, 2014. On February 28, 2015, she gave birth to their son Rhodes Emilio Gilbert Perry.

Sara Rebecca Abeles, better known as Sara Gilbert, was born at St. John's Hospital and Health Center in Santa Monica, California on January 29, 1975 into a Jewish family as the daughter of Harold Abeles and Barbara Cowan. She has four older siblings. Her mother is the daughter of the famous Harry Crane, the creator of the popular Sitcom ‘The Honeymooners’.

Her siblings Melissa Gilbert and Jonathan Gilbert are also actors who are popular for their roles in ‘Little House on the Prairie’.

Sara graduated from Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut in 1997, majoring in art with an emphasis on photography.

Sara Gilbert started her career in a commercial for ‘Kool-Aid’ and after doing some minor roles in television, she appeared in the series ‘Roseanne’ as ‘Darlene Conner’ in 1988. At the age of 13, this was the biggest break she had received in her career so far. She played the role of the down-to-earth middle daughter of Roseanne Connor. Her role was very much appreciated and widely praised by the audience.

After a successful stint in ‘Roseanne’, Gilbert did some important roles in movies like ‘Desert Blue’ (1998), ‘The Big Tease’ (1999), ‘Light It Up’ (1999), and ‘Riding in Cars with Boys’ (2001).

Her role in ‘Roseanne’ earned her a lot of roles in the television world too. She featured in some popular TV series and established herself as a well-known TV actress.

Some of her famous works in TV were ‘Welcome to New York’ (2000-01), ‘24’ (2002), ‘Twins’ (2005-06), ‘The Class’ (2006-07), ‘ER’ (2004-07), ‘Bad Teacher’ (2014), ‘The Big Bang Theory’ (2007-16).

Sara Gilbert appeared in the television series ‘The Big Bang Theory’ between 2007 and 2010. She played the love interest of Johnny Galecki’s character in the show. Her character went through a roller coaster ride from being one of the main characters of the show to being pushed aside as a supporting one later on.

In Sara Gilbert’s career so far, there have been many notable works but the one that stands out is her performance in ‘Roseanne’. The ABC Sitcom gave her the opportunity to make a name for herself in the television world. The show aired on television for the first time in 1988. Her role of ‘Darlene Connor’ was so important that the show’s creators gave her ample time to complete her bachelor’s degree from the Yale University along with working on the show by making dates available according to her convenience.

She caught the attention of the audience when she appeared in the popular television series ‘The Big Bang Theory’. After being introduced as a supporting character, her screen time was extended as the show progressed. Later on, her character ‘Leslie Winkle’ was once again downgraded to a recurring one by the producers owing to the increasing popularity of the characters played by the actresses Amy Farrah Fowler and Bernadette Rostenkowski.

Another milestone in her career was the talk show titled ‘The Talk’. The show first aired in 2010. She produced and co-hosted the show along with appearing on it.
