Saba Qamar was born Sabahat Qamar on 5 April 1984 at Gujranwala in Pakistan. Little is known about her family. She is said to have spent majority of her childhood with her grandmother after losing her father when she was just three years old. Post her school education, she shifted to Lahore to pursue higher studies, however, soon her focus shifted to building a career in the entertainment industry. Her hobbies are known to be practicing yoga, dancing and reading.
In 2004, Saba Qamar entered the entertainment industry and made her acting debut with the television series ‘Main Aurat Hoon’. Other television projects that she has been part of include ‘Jinnah Ke Naam’, ‘Tinkay’, ‘Dastaan’, ‘Uraan’, ‘Maat’, ‘Pani Jaisa Pyar’, ‘Shehryar Shehzadi’, ‘Ullu Baraye Parokht Nahi’, ‘Kaisay Tum Se Kahoon’, ‘Main Chand Si’, ‘Bunty I Love You’, ‘Main Sitara’, ‘Sangat’ and ‘Besharam’. In 2013, she made her first appearance in television film ‘Aina’ that earned her much appreciation. In 2015, she made her feature film debut with the biographical movie Manto’. Her brilliant portrayal of the singer Noor Jehan in the movie established her as one of the leading actresses of the Urdu cinema.
In 2016, she acted in the Pakistani road-comedy film ‘Lahore Se Aagey’ and the murder mystery ‘8969’. Her performance in both the movies was highly appreciated and she was nominated for the Lux Style Award for Best Actress for ‘Lahore Se Aaagey’.
In 2017, she made her debut in the Hindi film Industry with the movie ‘Hindi Medium’ opposite actor Irrfan Khan. Currently, she is working on a project titled ‘Baaghi’, based on the story of Pakistani model and activist Qandeel Baloch. She is the recipient of several prestigious awards. She has been awarded the Lux Style Awards 8 times and has also won A Hum Award.
In 2011, she won the PTV Award for 'Best Actress Jury' and 'Best Actress Viewers' and Lux Style Award for Best TV Actress for her performance in the television series 'Tinkay'. In the same year, she won the Pakistani Media Award for Best Supporting Actress for the TV series 'Dastaan'.
In 2012, she won the PTV Award for 'Best Actress Jury' for the TV series ‘Tera Pyar Nahi Bhoolay’.
In 2015, she won the Hum Award for Best Actress for the television series ‘Bunty I Love You’.
In 2016, Saba Qamar won the Galaxy Lollywood Award for Best Supporting Actress for the movie 'Manto'.
Though Saba Qamar has never disclosed her personal life details to the media, she has not been able to completely stay out off the rumours regarding her relationships with actors and other public figures. There were reports in the news that said that the actress is currently engaged to her cousin who works with the Pakistan Air Force as an engineer. Earlier there were news reports linking her name with theatre and film artist Hamsa Ali Abbasi. However, she has denied these allegations and confirmed that they merely share a good friendship. She is also known to be good friends with actor Ahsan Khan, with whom she has worked on several projects.
