Ryan Destiny was born on January 8, 1995 in Detroit, Michigan. Her father, Deron Irons, is African American. On the other hand, her mother, Dawn Irons, is biracial—White and African American. Music runs in her blood since her father too was a member of the 90’s R&B group ‘Guesss’.

When Ryan Destiny was in junior high school she decided to form a musical trio with Jasmine Pore and another friend of hers. This musical trio came to be known as ‘New Limit’. Destiny’s mother, Dawn Irons, helped the girls and managed to get an audition for ‘America’s Got Talent’. In 2011, Destiny and her friends auditioned for ‘America’s Got Talent’ and made it to the third round.

In 2011, Destiny had started her voice and dance lessons. In addition to this, an independent label in Michigan had also signed her. The musical group Destiny had created with her friend in junior high school later spilt up. Destiny, Pore and a new member, Chelsea Stone, who was ‘America’s Got Talent’s’ former contestant, started a new group ‘We are Dollhouse’. Later, they decided to change the name of the group to ‘Love Dollhouse’. ‘Love Dollhouse’ was signed by All Def, a label which was in partnership with Russell Simmons, Steve Rifkind, and Brian Robbins. After the deal, the trio released their debut single ‘Can I’.

In 2015, the group decided to split up and was disbanded. However, Destiny went on to sign with Capitol Records. One year later, she announced that she had plans for a solo EP.

Apart from singing, Destiny has also been in films and TV series. In 2010, she was seen in the web series ‘The Wannabes Starring Savvy’. In 2011, along with her mother, Destiny went Los Angeles to audition for few projects. In 2013, she was seen in few episodes in the Detroit-based crime drama ‘Low Winter Sun’. In 2015, she earned the lead role in the independent film ‘A Girl Like Grace’ and starred opposite Garcelle Beauvais and Raven-Symone. In June 2015, the film which was produced by Ty Hodges was premiered at Los Angeles Film Festival.

Initially, Destiny was supposed to play the role of Tiana on Lee Daniel’s hit musical drama ‘Empire’. But since she had signed the contract with All Def Music she couldn’t accept the role. In December 2015, Destiny earned one of the lead roles in Daniels’ new series ‘Star’. The TV series premiered on Fox on December 14, 2016 in which she was seen opposite Queen Latifah.
