Capron stepped into the world of acting with on-stage performances when he joined a ‘Trinity Repertory Company’ sponsored after school drama program at just eight years of age. In his first opportunity, he essayed a Turkish Boy in the company’s production of ‘A Christmas Carol’ that paved way for other on-stage performances.

He made his debut in films with the short speaking role of Student No. 2 in the January 2009 released American romcom flick ‘Bride Wars’. It was followed by another bit role in the British-American drama film ‘Hachi: A Dog's Tale’ that also released in 2009, and starred actors like Richard Gere and Joan Allen. His real breakthrough came when he landed up playing Rowley Jefferson, best friend of the main character, Greg Heffley in the March 2010 released box-office hit American comedy film ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’. His performance garnered him much applaud as also two ‘Young Artist Awards’ nominations. He then went on to play Oliver in the Nicholas Cage starrer American fantasy flick ‘The Sorcerer's Apprentice’ that released in July 2010. His successful portrayal of Rowley Jefferson saw him reprising the role in the second instalment of the ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ film series titled ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules’ released in March 2011. His performance in the film earned him a ‘Young Artist Award’ nomination in 2012.

In 2011, he was also a part of the TV film ‘Best Player’ essaying the Laser Boy and also in two episodes of Canadian-American horror-fantasy TV series ‘The Haunting Hour’.

He started off 2012 playing Young Curly in the critically and commercially successful American comedy film ‘The Three Stooges’. He again reprised the role of Rowley Jefferson in the third instalment of ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ film series titled ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days’, which released on August 3, 2012. His remarkable performance in the film earned him two ‘Young Artist Awards’ in 2013 in the categories ‘Best Performance in a Feature Film - Supporting Young Actor’ and ‘Best Performance in a Feature Film - Young Ensemble Cast’.

He also gave voice over as Bob in the American 3D stop-motion-animated fantasy horror comedy flick ‘Frankenweenie’ that released on October 5, 2012 in the US. He then played Derek in the 3D computer-animated motion capture action-adventure German flick in English language titled ‘Tarzen’ and also as Kyle in the American comedy film ‘The Way, Way Back’, both of which released in 2013. Since 2014, he has been associated with the American procedural drama series ‘Elementary’ where till present he has featured in six episodes as Mason.

Robert Capron was born on July 9, 1998, in Providence, Rhode Island, US to Robert Capron Sr. and Kaye Capron. While his mother, an actress, essayed the role of his character Rowley Jefferson’s mother in ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’, his father appeared in a cameo role of a Talent Show Guest in ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules’. At present, Capron lives in Scituate, Rhode Island, and attends ‘Brown University’ as a freshman majoring in film studies, theatre and screenwriting. He loves to read, write screenplays, act, swim, play video games and tennis.
