Ricco’s career started in the most unlikely of places, in his bedroom! He recorded his Musical.ly videos in the confinement of the four walls, and posted them on the site. He uploaded his first Instagram photograph on December 31, 2015. As a new year dawned, so did a star in this digital age. Through his self-taught dance moves and an inherent charisma, he began to build up a loyal and huge fanbase. Musical.ly, in many ways, is quite restrictive, and many performances suffer because of it. Ricco, however, has a rawness to him that oozes out every time he performs for his audience. He set up his main YouTube channel all the way back in June 2012. These days, his videos regularly get hundreds of thousands views, with the most popular one having over two million views. He mainly posts reaction videos, challenges, and Q&A’s on this channel.

Ricco is one of the few internet stars who seem to be making a successful transition to the mainstream. He wrote, produced, performed, and distributed his first EP ‘Single Handed’ in early 2016. The 5-track EP was warmly received by critics and public alike, and noted for being “Both autobiographical and reflective, a bittersweet window into the young producer’s soul.” The tracks ‘I Know’, ‘Lowkey’. and ‘Lebron James’ particularly were well-loved by his fans for their “hard-hitting lyrics, aggressive delivery, and innovative production”. Since then he has released the singles ‘Saucin on You’, ‘’Pablo’, and Guanpanese’. Comparisons are often been made between him and Justin Bieber for their apparently similar fashion sense.

Some of Ricco’s gestures during his performances on Musical.ly are considered lewd by many and have kindled controversies. Thus he has developed somewhat of a notorious reputation. But that hardly seems to matter to his die-hard fans! Despite the controversies, or may be because of it, he is one of the most popular Musers of all time.
