Reginae Carter was born on November 29, 1998, in Louisiana, USA. Her father is famous rapper Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., a.k.a. Lil Wayne, and her mother is Antonia “Toya” Carter, a rapper as well as a reality television star. Her mother became pregnant with her at the age of only 14 years, while her father was 15 years old at that time. Lil Wayne, who was still in the beginning stages of his career, married Toya in 2004, after he achieved fame. Unfortunately, the union didn't last long, and the two got divorced in 2006. However, they remained amicable and continued to raise their child together. Her mother later got married to Mickey Wright in 2011, but eventually separated from him four years later. Her father has been involved in a number of relationships and she has three step-siblings from her father's side, each of whom is from a different mother. Reginae spent a lot of time together with the children of famous rapper and family friend T.I. after her father got arrested in 2007 for criminal possession of a weapon and marijuana. Her two maternal uncles, Josh and Rudy, were found dead inside a car in New Orleans in July 2016. She was very fond of her uncles and the incident left her emotionally devastated for a long time.
Recently, it has been rumored that Lil Wayne and Toya are getting back together. While there has not been any official word, the two celebrated Reginae's 18th birthday together. Moreover, Reginae and his boyfriend dressed up as Toya Wright and Lil Wayne for Halloween that year, indicating a possible reunion. She is currently in a relationship with Joshua Brown, whom she started dating back in 2014. Prior to dating him, she had been in a relationship with Jaquez Sloan.
Born to famous parents, Reginae Carter was well known to the fans of her parents as "Baby Carter" since she was a child. She showed her musical talents on the 2009 video documentary ‘The Carter’, in which she can be seen singing and rapping at the age of ten. Around the same time, she started to appear in her mother's reality television show ‘Tiny and Toya’. Her musical career started in 2009 when she became a part of the girl group OMG, initially known as The OMG Girlz. However, she departed from the group following the release of their first single "Ain't Nobody" to pursue solo career. She signed her father's record label at the age of 14 and released her first music video "Mind Goin Crazy" on July 2, 2014.
Reginae Carter has made it to the news headlines a number of times for her controversial comments, specifically those that she often posts in support of her father whenever he gets involved in some controversy. She has been criticized for getting involved into fights with seniors in the music industry, often with her father's contemporaries. One such incident happened in November 2016 after Lil Wayne's friend and contemporary rapper T.I. posted a long open letter criticizing the former's comment about his detachment from the Black Lives Matter movement. She replied stating he could have told that to her father in a text message, but instead he posted it online to seek attention. Previously, in March 2015, she was very vocal on social media after rapper Young Thug, who was inspired by Lil Wayne's, ‘Tha Carter’ series of albums, announced that his next album would be titled Carter 6. In January 2017, she again took to social media and came to her father's defense after hip-hop star, Kodak Black, launched a series on derogatory comments about her father in an interview.
