Rebecca Louisa Ferguson Sundström was born on 19 October 1983 in Stockholm, Sweden. Her mother, Rosemary, is British; she relocated to Sweden at the age of 25. Her father is Swedish. Ferguson grew up with three siblings. Her parents divorced later on. The actress attended an English-speaking school and later studied at Adolf Fredrik's Music School, graduating in 1999.

Coming to her love life, Rebecca Ferguson gave birth to a son with her then-boyfriend Ludwig Hallberg in 2007. The couple moved to Simrishamn and lived there together for a few years before separating in 2015. In January 2018, Ferguson disclosed on ‘The Graham Norton Show’ that she was pregnant with her second child. However, she didn’t disclose the name of the child’s father. Her daughter was born in July 2018. Ferguson is claustrophobic and also suffers from vertigo.

Rebecca Ferguson made her television debut in 1999 when she was cast as Anna Gripenhielm in the opera ‘Nya tider’. After this, she made guest appearances in the TV programs ‘Wallander’ and ‘Ocean Ave’. In 2013, she played the main role of Elizabeth Woodville in the drama series ‘The White Queen’. The following year, the actress appeared in two episodes of the miniseries ‘The Red Tent’ as well as in the flick ‘Hercules’. In 2015, she was cast as Ilsa Faust in the American action spy film ‘Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation’. This made her a popular face on the international level.

In 2016, Ferguson bagged important roles in the British Cold War movie ‘Despite the Falling Snow’ and in the biographical drama film ‘Florence Foster Jenkins’. She also did the mystery thriller ‘The Girl on the Train’ the same year. She next played Miranda North in the horror flick ‘Life’ in 2017. That year, the Swedish actress co-starred in Tomas Alfredson's thriller ‘The Snowman’ opposite Charlotte Gainsbourg and Michael Fassbender.
