Ranbir Kapoor was born on 28th September 1982 in Mumbai, India. His parents Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh are both well-known actors in Bollywood. He is a great grandson of Prithviraj Kapoor, a pioneer of Indian cinema, and a grandson of Raj Kapoor, a noted Indian film actor and director.

Though the film wasn't much of a success, it won him the Filmfare Award for 'Best Male Debut'. He played an obsessive lover of a woman who was awaiting another man she was in love with.

The film portrayed him as a spoiled rich kid who undergoes personality changes after he starts living with Ayesha, an aspiring writer and journalist. Ranbir Kapoor played one of the lead roles in "Raajneeti', a political crime thriller, which was released in 2010. Along with Kapoor, the film starred several other popular actors such as Ajay Devgn, Nana Patekar, Arjun Rampal, Naseeruddin Shah, Katrina Kaif and Manoj Bajpayee. The film managed to become one of the highest grossing films of the year despite kindling some controversies. Kapoor's brilliant performance won him a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Actor.

The 2012 Indian comedy drama 'Barfi!' is undoubtedly among Kapoor's most successful works. The film tells the story of a mischievous mute and deaf boy, portrayed by Kapoor. It became one of the highest grossing Indian films of the year, and was also nominated for thirteen Filmfare Awards, out of which it won seven.

The film revolves around the relationship between a charming and handsome guy, Kabir, who wants to explore the world, and a nerdy medical student, Naina, played by Deepika Padukone.
