Pokimane

Imane is a huge fan of the popular animated series ‘Pokemon’ and hence chose ‘Pokimane’ as her pseudonym. She even posted a video explaining the meaning and origin of her pseudonym. She is also a fan of anime, and many of her YouTube videos are based on anime and its characters.

She can speak French, English, and Moroccan Darija fluently. She is of mixed origin and shares a special bond with China. She loves Asia so much so that she wants to live in Japan in near future.

Pokimane was born Imane Anys on May 14, 1996, in Morocco. She started playing video games right from her childhood and fell in love with a game called ‘League of Legends’ very early in her life.

She later moved to Los Angeles and started streaming videos related to various video games on her Twitch channel. She soon started gathering followers and subscribers, which gave her the confidence to explore other social media platforms.

In February 2013, she created a YouTube channel and started posting videos. She then renamed her channel and began posting ASMR videos, as per her fans’ requests. She currently posts only ASMR-related videos on the channel, which has more than 293,000 subscribers and over 30 million views.

Thereafter, she created her Twitter account in December 2013, and started sharing random thoughts and messages. Since already had a YouTube channel, it didn’t take her long to establish herself on Twitter. She currently has more than 357,000 followers on Twitter.

Pokimane created her second YouTube channel in March 2014, which would eventually become her primary channel. She posts vlogs, challenges, video game-related content, and other entertaining videos on this channel. The channel currently has more than 1.3 million subscribers.
