In her early teenage she performed at clubs in Philadelphia and during this time, she took up the pseudo-name Pink. She cleared the audition and became a member of the ‘Basic Instinct’ band; however, this band was dismantled soon.
When she was sixteen years old, she formed an R&B band ‘Choice’, along with associates Chrissy Conway and Stephanie Galligan. The band recorded a song ‘Key to My Heart’ and sent in to Atlanta to the record label ‘LaFace Records’ and this song impressed musician L. A. Reid.

Reid saw the talent which Pink possessed and suggested her to continue a career as a solo artist. She followed his suggestion and in 1998, the band ‘Choice’ ceased to exist. She then entered into a contract with the ‘LaFace Records’ company and started to work on her first solo album.
