One of his unforgettable hits is, ‘Sledgehammer’ from the album, ‘So’. Interestingly, he was a drummer initially and was associated with a number of rock bands. Mike Rutherford once famously commented, ‘Pete was—and still is, I think—a frustrated drummer.’ Just as he started out as a singer with an alternative rock group called ‘Genesis’, there was a time when audiences often did not understand the words he was singing.
