Olivia Sui came to the United States when she just two years old. She started pursuing ballet at the age of five and realized she loved both dancing and acting. Growing up, she participated in several dance competitions in Southern California and trained herself in acting and improvisation comedy. At the age of 13, she started landing roles in various TV series such as ‘Monk’, ‘Weeds’, ‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’, ‘Date Night Fails’, ‘Warzone’, ‘SHFTY: Super Happy Fun Time, Yay!’ and ‘A Trivial Exclusion’. Thereafter she moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting.
It was also the age of new apps on the Internet and viral videos. Sui decided to join Vine, a popular video-sharing app, and started posting her own unique videos. Her weird sense of humor worked in her favor. She was seen walking around the city of Los Angeles, filming strangers and interacting with them in these vines. The videos became popular, and she developed a large social media following. In her Vine videos, she collaborated with other social media personalities such as Brandon Calvillo, Marcus Johns, and Josh Darnit. After this, she started focusing on digital content and decided to start her own YouTube channel in 2015. The channel currently has over 94,000 subscribers with almost 1 million views. Her most popular videos include ‘BAKING CHEESECAKE WITH COURTNEY MILLER!’ and ‘SPICY KOREAN NOODLE CHALLENGE AH!!!’.
After diverting her acting roles to digital media, she was seen in ‘Scream Queens’ and ‘Madden Rivals’. She joined Smosh, a digital comedy brand, in March 2015 and became a permanent member of the 6-membered cast. She is a regular character in many of Smosh’s series including ‘The Big What If’, ‘Smosh Summer Games: Wild West’, ‘Smosh Babies’, ‘Winter Games 2017’, and ‘Every BLANK Ever’. She teamed up with Courtney Miller to co-host ‘Seriously Super Stupid Sleepover’, but this was cancelled early in 2017. She teamed up with Courtney again for ‘Whoa! Nature Show’ in September 2017. The two of them went out into the nature, mingled with animals, and tried understanding their habitat. Sui also continued working on sketches for the main Smosh channel at the same time. She currently remains a major cast member of the Smosh squad while making intermittent appearances in other series. She was recently seen in the pilot episode of the series ‘Yappie’. She was also seen at the VidCon 2018 convention interacting with her fans.
