Ocean was born on August 28, 2011, in Los Angeles, California, to Joe and Maha Maturo. August, born on August 28, 2007, is exactly four years older than him. He also has an older half-sister named Michele through his father. She is an entrepreneur and the founder of FEW Athletics. In July 2017, Joe and Maha renewed their wedding vows. The ceremony was attended by many cast members of ‘Girl Meets World’.
Interestingly, Ocean’s first screen appearance occurred a year prior to that of his brother’s. Their mother, Maha, is a talent manager, which had made the access to the entertainment industry comparatively easy for the brothers. Ocean’s first appearance was in FX’s anthology horror television series ‘American Horror Stories’. In 2011, he made a guest appearance as the character Baby Michael in the season one episode ‘Afterbirth’.
Ocean’s next project was the television film ‘Stalked at 17’, which premiered on October 27, 2012, on Lifetime. Written by Christine Conradt (screenplay) and Kathleen Mattison (story) and directed by Doug Campbell, the telefilm tells the story of an abusive man (Chuck Hittinger) who threatens to kill his girlfriend (Taylor Spreitler) after she decides to end the relationship and leave with their son (Ocean).
He then appeared in the sitcom ‘Girl Meets World.’ Created by Michael Jacobs and April Kelly, the Disney Channel’s sitcom was a sequel to and spinoff of ‘Boy Meets World’ (1993-2000). It revolved around a young teen girl, Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard), who is the daughter of the protagonist of ‘Boy Meets World’, Cory Matthews (Ben Savage) and Topanga Matthews (Danielle Fishel) and follows somewhat the same format as its predecessor with the notable exception that this time, the protagonist is a girl. August played Cory and Topanga’s son and Riley’s brother, Auggie. Ocean portrayed the younger Auggie in the season three episode ‘Girl Meets Bear’ in 2016. That year, he also appeared in the music video for Bryan Lanning’s song ‘Idaho’.
