Rise to Stardom

Mor Shapiro was involved in a longtime relationship with Ben Shapiro before they got engaged in 2007. In July 2008, the couple got married in a traditional Jewish wedding ceremony in Acre, Israel, while "overlooking the ocean sunset". Ben's father wrote the emotional processional music for the event. She gave birth to their first child, a daughter named Leeya Eliana, in 2014. Following the birth of their daughter, an elated Ben had written and shared on the internet an open letter to the newborn child, in which he mentioned how heroically Mor had endured labor for 26 hours. He also prayed for their daughter and expressed his hope that she will choose to follow God in His ways of righteousness. Since then the couple has welcomed a son in 2016. Both she and her husband practice Orthodox Judaism. They live with their two children in Los Angeles, California.

Relationship with Ben Shapiro

In 2015, it was revealed that Mor Shapiro's one year old daughter Leeya Eliana had an atrial septal defect (ASD) for which she had to undergo open heart surgery. Long after the unfortunate event, her husband, a controversial right-wing political commentator, dragged the family into an ugly fight after he mentioned on his daily Facebook live podcast, 'The Ben Shapiro Show', his disagreement with late night show host Jimmy Kimmel about health insurance covering pre-existing conditions. Kimmel, the host of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!', had his son Billy go through heart surgery the day after he was born at L.A.’s Children’s Hospital, where Leeya Eliana was also operated on. Kimmel revealed the news to his audience in an emotional monologue in May 2017, and has continually opposed the GOP healthcare bill that sought to replace Obamacare. Ben criticized Kimmel for championing Obamacare and linking it to federal funding, and also attacked him for sharing a heartbreaking personal story to push for a public policy. According to him, his daughter got great healthcare coverage because both he and his wife were insured long before they became parents. He went on to say that even if someone is not insured, the doctors won't ask for it as charities and hospitals would cover the gap. The fight went on for months as Ben offered to debate Kimmel on the issue, which the latter refused. In February 2018, Kimmel made an indirect remark on Ben by suggesting that most talk show hosts are liberal "because it requires a level of intelligence". Ben responded to the comment saying it was "so smug, and it’s so smarmy" and mentioned that the most successful talk show host in the past 35 years, Jay Leno, is center-right and a libertarian.
