Miss Mulatto was born as Alyssa Michelle Stephens on December 22, 1998 in Ohio, USA. She has two sisters, Brooklyn and Kay. Mulatto attended Lovejoy High School in Clayton County before rapping happened to her. A highly exuberant and enthusiastic child, Mulatto claims that she was always brimming with energy even at the end of the day. To keep up with her highly spirited nature, her parents kept her busy by making her do something. She used to sell candy at school and drag race. However, due to her professional commitments, she could not continue school full-time and instead enrolled for an online private school.
She has been quoted stating that she misses the experience of going to a regular school. Also, in addition to her music talent, Mulatto, as a child, fancied becoming a stylist or a fashion designer someday. She said that opening a clothing store would allow her fans and other artists to drop in and listen to her music. Having entrepreneurial skills in her blood, it was only natural for her to explore her business dreams.
You know it when you are born talented and Miss Mulatto is no different. As a child, she knew she was destined to hit it big but what she didn’t know was that success would come way early in her life. Barely in school, Miss Mulatto struck out by participating in the Lifetime reality series ‘The Rap Game’, a competition for young rhymers on the ATL hip-hop scene. She went on to emerge as the season 1 winner of the show. Life thereafter took a 360 degree turn for Mulatto, as fame, recognition, and distinction all came her way.
Show producer and rap mogul Jermaine Dupri immediately took her under his wings and this marked the birth of the next big MC. Working under Dupri’s guidance has been an inspiring experience for Miss Mulatto. Ask her what she thinks of him and she claims that she hasn’t met anyone who is as hard working as him. He has always inspired her to work hard. As a part of Dupri’s So So Def Records, she has already worked on a couple of songs including a single out in iTunes, ‘No More Talking’. She has released a number of mixtapes, has been featured on the radio, and was featured as a character in the children's book ‘Oops I Danced My Diaper Off’.
Currently, she is working on her new mixtape, ‘Latto Let Em Know’. Interestingly, despite having won the reality series and being a signee to So So Def Records, Mulatto has not slowed down. In fact, she knew from an early age that she wanted to become an entrepreneur. Working on that aspect, Mulatto came up with her own retail clothing boutique store which she titled ‘Pittstop Clothing’.
