Mimi Faust has dated several men throughout her life. Her most famous relationship was with famous singer and musician Stevie J, which continued for three years, from 2007 to 2010. In 2009, Mimi gave birth to her daughter, Eva Jordan.
In 2014, she caused a stir in the media when a sex tape featuring her and her then-boyfriend, Nikko London, was released. ‘Vivid Entertainment’ released the tape on various pornography websites, and it eventually earned a nomination for the ‘AVN Award’ for the best celebrity sex-tape of 2015.
Later, she accepted that the sex-tape release was pre-planned. By then, she had made $30,000 solely from the sales of the tape.
Mimi Faust was born Oluremi Fela James, on January 3, 1972, in Newport News, Virginia, US. She had a tough relationship with her mother, Olaiya Odufunke, who raised her as a single mother. Mimi grew up with her brother and her sister.
Mimi’s mother was a religious woman. Soon after Mimi’s birth, the family moved to Atlanta for better job opportunities. When Mimi was 6 years old, her mother joined the ‘Church of Scientology.’
Mimi grew up as a highly creative child and was also academically good. She always had an interest in performing arts such as singing and acting. However, she never quite got the chance to explore her skills, as her mother did not care about her children’s education and passions.
Finally, at the age of 13, Mimi decided that she could not live by the rules of Scientology and started craving for a different life for herself. She was also doing nothing to further the cause of the church and was thus considered a freeloader. She was asked to sign a contract with the church, which she refused. She was then exiled from the faith. Following this, she started living all by herself.
Soon, she also came to know that she was the result of an affair and that the man she called her father was not her biological father. After finding about her father’s identity, Mimi set out to meet him. He lived as an artist in New York. Soon, she reconnected with him. Mimi stayed very close to her father until he died in 2014.
Mimi relocated to Los Angeles in the early 1990s and appeared in a music video. She had not ever thought of becoming a star and wished to start her own business.
Fate intervened and her striking good looks and natural charm helped her appear in a number of music videos. In the late 1990s, she appeared in several well-known music videos such as ‘It’s Gonna Rain’ by Kelly Price and ‘Frontin’’ by Pharrell Williams. ‘Frontin’’ was a big opportunity for her, as it also featured popular rapper Jay Z and starred supermodel Lanisha Cole.
In the early 2000s, she saved enough money to start her own cleaning company named ‘Keep it Clean Inc.’
Her life changed in 2012, when she was approached to be part of the upcoming reality show ‘Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.’ The star-studded cast of the show also included her ex-boyfriend, Stevie J. They were two of the most popular contestants on the show.
The reality show featured several struggling rappers and musicians from Atlanta and narrated their struggles. The show’s format also involved their wives and girlfriends and their roles in the success stories of their partners. The show became highly successful, and Mimi continued to appear in subsequent seasons of the show.
Mimi Faust appeared on the show ‘Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath’ in October 2017 and revealed some scary truths about her childhood.
As Mimi’s mother devoted herself to Scientology, she ignored her children who were struggling to have a better life. By the time Mimi was 8 years old, she saw her mother selling all their property for the church. The family was close to becoming bankrupt. The children survived on the little that was left of their property.
Soon, her mother signed a billion-year contract with ‘Sea Org,’ the headquarters of Scientology, located in Los Angeles. Olaiya did not pay heed to her children’s demands and brought them to Los Angeles, along with her.
There, the children’s lives worsened. They were forced to live in an extremely small place with bunk beds and had to go to the cafeteria for their meals, which was abysmal in terms of taste and nutrition. Their mother also abandoned them, as the rules at the place prevented her from meeting her children for more than two hours every day.
When Mimi left the church at the age of 13, her mother did not wish to know where she would go. Mimi went to a friend’s house and finished her education from a Scientology school named the ‘Mace-Kingsley’ school.
