Mikey Way was born as Michael James Way on September 10, 1980 in Newark, New Jersey, to Donna Lee and Donald Way. He has a brother, Gerard Way, who is also a musician by profession. Mikey grew up in Belleville, New Jersey and attended Belleville High School, graduating in 1998. Growing up, he worked for Barnes & Noble as well as Eyeball Records. In 2007, the American musician married Alicia Way. Unfortunately, the couple got divorced and Mikey moved on to date model Sarah Cantergiani. Then in the year 2016, he married a woman named Kristin Colby. The couple welcomed a baby girl in 2017.
Mikey Way joined the rock band named My Chemical Romance in 2001. The following year, he along with his band mates released their first album ‘I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love’. Two years later, i.e. in 2004, they released their second album titled ‘Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge’. After this, their third and fourth albums, namely ‘The Black Parade’ and ‘Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys’ were released in 2006 and 2010 respectively. In 2013, the band got dissolved.
After his breakup with the band My Chemical Romance, Mikey Way moved on to form a new band with the Sleep Station vocalist David Debiak. Their band was called ‘Electric Century’ and they released their first song titled ‘I Lied’ in 2014. The following year, their track ‘Let You Get Away’ came out. After working on these tracks, Way and Debiak started working on their debut album. This album, ‘Electric Century,’ was released on April 18, 2015. Then their singles ‘Right There’ and ‘Hail the Saints’ were released. The duo brought out their second album ‘For the Night to Control’ in March 2016.
Mikey Way has also made a few guest appearances on other artistes’ works. He got featured in Amy Black’s album ‘The Shadow Side’ in 2016. The musician then made an appearance in Waterparks’ album named ‘Cluster’.
