Mike Posner was born as Michael Robert Henrion Posner on February 12, 1988 in Detroit, Michigan, USA, to Roberta Henrion and Jon Posner. His father is Jewish while his mother is Catholic. He has an older sister. He attended Bingham Farms Elementary School and then graduated from Groves High School. Later, Posner attended Duke University and graduated from there with a B.S. in sociology.
Mike Posner started his music career as a record producer. He came into limelight after he released his mixtapes titled ‘A Matter of Time’ and ‘One Foot Out the Door’ in 2009. The following year, he released his debut album titled ‘31 Minutes to Takeoff’ that included the singles ‘Cooler Than Me’, ‘Bow Chicka Wow Wow’ and ‘Please Don't Go’.
After the release of the album, Posner started working on his second album, initially named ‘Sky High,’ and released the track ‘Looks Like Sex’ in December 2011. This was followed by his third mixtape titled ‘The Layover’. The American singer then released the song ‘Top of the World’ as a part of his ‘Page 1’ EP on December 17, 2013. He released the music video of the song two days later. Soon after this, Posner’s second EP ‘The Truth’ came out.
On May 6, 2016, he released his second album ‘At Night, Alone’. In March 2017, he collaborated with American singer blackbear and formed a hip-hop and R&B duo under the name Mansionz. On March 24, they released their self-titled debut album that featured appearances from Cyhi The Prynce, Soren Bryce, G-Eazy, Snooze God, Dennis Rodman and Spark Master Tape.
Posner has co-written the songs ‘Boyfriend’ for Justin Bieber, ‘Sugar’ for Maroon 5 and ‘Beneath Your Beautiful’ for Labrinth and has also written songs for Talib Kweli, Big Sean, Pharrell Williams, Wiz Khaliafa, 2 Chainz, Snoop Dogg, Austin Mahone, and Nick Jonas.
