Melinda Farrell was born on January 24, 1985, in New South Wales, Australia. Not much is known about her parents and family life except that she has a sibling named Terry Farrell.
She attended the Catholic non-government co-educational school called ‘James Sheahan Catholic High School’ that is situated in Orange, New South Wales, Australia, from where she finished her high school education.
Her passion for journalism led her to resolve in building a career in the field. In that pursuit she enrolled at the ‘University of Canberra’ and obtained her BA degree from the University majoring in TV Communication/Journalism.
Farrell commenced on a career in journalism as a freelancer, working with MC for five years. During such tenure, Farrell, who has a special admiration for cricket and rugby leagues, hosted different such events including as on-field MC during the Wallabies V Lions 2013 held at the ‘Stadium Australia’.
Meanwhile, in 2010 ‘Cricket Victoria’, the governing body of cricket in the Australian state of Victoria, bestowed her with the ‘Spirit of Cricket’ award.
She went on to work in the position of a sports presenter for Sportsfan.com.au as well as for the Australian twenty four hours news channel ‘ABC News 24’.
A dynamic and skilled sports reporter, Farrell has travelled across the world taking her passion for journalism forward. Her overseas endeavour included serving a stint at ‘Sky Sports’ in the UK and staying in the Middle East for seven months to cover ‘Asian Games’ on behalf of ‘David Atkins Enterprises’.
She has been associated with several prominent sports publication covering news on cricket. Some such publications include ‘The Times’, ‘The Sydney Morning Herald’, ‘The Independent’, ‘Cricket Australia’, ‘The Guardian’, ‘The Wisden Cricketers’’, ‘ESPNcricinfo’, ‘ABC’ and ‘Fox Sports’.
