Max Martini was born as Maximilian Carlo Martini on December 11, 1969 in Woodstock, New York or Kingston, New York, to Raffaelle Martini Pandozy and Patricia Martini Margolin. He has a brother, Christopher, who is a director, and a sister, Michelle, who works as a costume designer.
Martini studied at Santa Monica High School as well as St. Michaels University School. Later, he attended School of Visual Arts and obtained a B.F.A. in sculpture and painting. Martini has been married to his wife Kim Restell since 1997. The couple has two kids.
Max Martini began appearing in movies after graduating from college. He first acted in the 1985 flick ‘The Glitter Dome’ followed by ‘Paramedics’, ‘Contact’ and ‘Saving Private Ryan’. He then appeared in the independent films ‘Cement’ and ‘Backroads’. In 2001, the actor did the movie ‘Another Day’. Four years later, he played a role in the flick ‘The Great Raid’.
He was then cast as Hercules "Herc" Hansen in the movie ‘Pacific Rim’ in 2013. The same year, Martini got featured in the movie ‘Captain Phillips. Soon after this, he was cast as Christian Grey's bodyguard in the movie ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’. Then In 2016, he played Mark "Oz" Geist in the film ‘13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi’. A year later, he reprised his role as Jason Taylor in ‘Fifty Shades Darker’.
Martini’s television credits include a main role in the mini-series ‘Taken’ and his appearance as Agent Steve Goodrich in the drama ‘24’. He also appeared in the shows ‘The Pretender’, ‘Walker Texas Ranger’, ‘Da Vinci's Inquest’, ‘Harsh Realm’ and ‘Level 9’.
After guest appearances in many popular series, such as ‘Numb3rs’, ‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’, ‘Walker Texas Ranger’ and ‘CSI: Miami,’ the actor landed a main role in the series ‘The Unit’. In 2010 and 2011, Martini appeared in a number of shows including ‘Lie to Me’, ‘Dark Blue’, ‘White Collar’, ‘Hawaii Five-0’, ‘Flashpoint’, ‘Revenge’ and ‘Criminal Minds’.
He also remains active in the theater scene. Martini has co-founded the company Theatre North Collaborative which is located in New York City.
