Maulik Navin Pancholy was born on January 18, 1974, in Dayton, Ohio, USA in a Gujrati family of Indian immigrants. He attended Berkeley Preparatory School and graduated from there in 1991. Later on, he received his bachelor's degree from Northwestern University. After this, he studied at Yale School of Drama and graduated from there with a Master of Fine Arts degree in 2003.
Pancholy disclosed to ‘Out’ magazine in a November 2013 interview that he is gay. In the interview, he also discussed about his partner of nine years, Ryan Corvaia. The couple got engaged at the Taj Mahal (India) in January 2014 and got married in September that year.
Talking about the actor’s philanthropic nature, he is associated with many non-profit as well as social policy organizations including New York City Anti-Violence Project, Asian Americans Advancing Justice and OutRight Action International (previously called as International Gay & Lesbian Human Rights Commission).
Maulik Pancholy’s first acting role was of Roberto in the 1999 series ‘Tracey Takes On’. He then appeared in the series ‘Jack & Jill’ and ‘Charmed’. In 2005, the actor began playing the role of Sanjay Patel in the drama ‘Weeds’. The same year, he appeared in the series ‘The Comeback’ as well as the movies ‘Hitch’ and ‘Friends with Money’.
Pancholy was then cast as Jonathan in the series ‘30 Rock’ and as Babar in the flick 'Park' in 2006. The following year, he started voicing the character of Baljeet Tjinder in the animated musical comedy series ‘Phineas and Ferb’. After this, he appeared in a number of movies including ‘27 Dresses’, ‘Love N' Dancing’, ‘Love Ranch’, ‘Tug’, ‘See You in September’ and ‘Raspberry Magic’.
The American actor then had a recurring role in the drama ‘Web Therapy’ in 2011. The same year, he got featured in the series ‘Whitney’. After some time, Pancholy began voicing Sanjay Patel in the animated series ‘Sanjay and Craig’. During 2016 and 2017, he got featured in episodes of ‘The Muppets’, ‘Friends From College’ and ‘Milo Murphy's Law’.
