Matthew Labyorteaux was born as Matthew Charles Labyorteaux on December 8, 1966, in Los Angeles, California, USA. He is the adopted son of actress Frances Marshall and her interior designer husband Ronald Labyorteaux. He is the younger brother of actor Patrick Labyorteaux, who is also adopted, and of Jane.
Despite being autistic in real life, Labyorteaux is also a skilled video game player. In 1992, he, along with his brother, founded the Youth Rescue Fund, a charity organization to assist young people in crisis. This association no longer operates.
Matthew Labyorteaux first appeared in the 1974 flick ‘A Woman Under the Influence’. He then guest-starred in many TV dramas such as ‘The Rookies’, ‘Phyllis’, ‘The Practice’, ‘Doc’ and ‘The Bob Newhart Show’. In 1977, he starred in the series ‘The Red Hand Gang’ and ‘Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman’. The following year, the actor was cast as Albert Quinn Ingalls in the drama series ‘Little House on the Prairie’. In 1978, he appeared in the film ‘King of the Gypsies’.
Soon after this, Labyorteaux did the TV movie ‘Little House Years’. From 1983 to 1984, he played the role of Richie Adler on the TV series ‘Whiz Kids’. Then till 1991, he guest-starred in the programs ‘Amazing Stories’, ‘Highway to Heaven’, ‘Hotel’, ‘Night Court’, ‘Paradise’ and ‘Silk Stalkings’. During this time, the American artiste also acted in the flick ‘Deadly Friend’. He provided additional voices in the movie ‘Mulan’ as well.
From 2003 to 2004, Labyorteaux did voice work for the video game series ‘.hack’. After this, he began voicing Jaden Yuki in the series ‘Yu-Gi-Oh! GX’. He did some voice work for the series ‘Winx Club’ in 2007, following which the voice artist lent his voice to the video game ‘Bride Wars’ two years later. After this, he played voice roles in the video games ‘Star Wars: The Old Republic’, ‘Kinect Star Wars’ and ‘Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links’.
